Vistabel, otherwise known as botulinum toxin type A and
branded Botox treatment, is a widely used treatment for
gabellar lines. Vistabel is known around the world and
was first used to treat perspiration problems. It has
been used sucessfully for over 10 years in the name of
Botox and now in the UK cosmetic market as Vistabel.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Vistabel is an injection into the muscles with
small quantities of botulinum toxin type A. It decreases
the muscular activity by blocking the release of
acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction. This
treatment then prevents the muscles from contracting for
a period of 4-6 months.

WHERE CAN IT BE USED?
The most common areas for the use of Vistabel are the
frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), the
horizontal forehead lines (brow lines), and the crow’ s
feet (periorbital lines). On occasion, some other areas
may be treated as well.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The effects of Vistabel last for between 4 to 6
months..

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Temporary bleeding, mild swelling at the site of the
injection. Occasionally more extensive bruising which is
again a temporary side effect.
More rarely, patients can experience headaches and
double vision.
